Interview with Digital Revolutionary Timothy Armoo: How can Companies Target Gen Z with Digital Technologies?


Timothy Armoo is leading the digital revolution in business. As the CEO of Fanbytes, he helps corporate clients to embrace social media and digital technologies and teaches them how to target Generation Z.

As insightful futurism and trends speaker, Timothy sat down with us in this exclusive interview to discuss how businesses can maintain audience attention and why it is important to keep up with the latest trends as an entrepreneur.

In terms of marketing, what is the secret to capturing and maintaining audience attention in the digital era?

“The reason why people spend so much time watching, you know, Bridgerton or something like that is because the story is interesting. When you lead with stories rather than leading with just, ‘here’s my product’, that’s when you truly win.

“A lot of people think that the way to win big is to spend a lot of money, big budgets, et cetera. But actually, what the smart person does is say, ‘what are the trends? What are the conversations going on?’.

“A lot of the old school of marketers are used to big TV ads and all that stuff, but really, small chunks of consistent cultural conversation work better.”

How can businesses better embrace social media?

“Fundamentally, if you believe that social media is the internet, which it is, then saying ‘should a brand embrace social media is almost like saying should a brand embrace the internet’!

“Because if you look at your internet consumption, the likelihood is you go on Twitter to find out about news, you go on YouTube to find about product reviews rather than actually going to an actual product review site.

“You go onto YouTube; you go onto Instagram to find the new things that are cool. You go on TikTok to find out about trends and stuff that are going on, whereas probably like 10, 15 years ago, people would say ‘let me go on this particular site to find this particular thing’.

“It’s all on social media. So, when a brand starts to think about social media not as everything from the internet, but that social media is the Internet, it actually becomes a no brainer!”

Why is it important for companies to keep up with the latest trends and technology?

“I think it just goes back to the idea that by not keeping up with the latest trends and technology, you lose relevance, and you die.”

If you could give yourself one piece of advice at the start of your business journey, what would it be?

“One of my favorite quotes is by Jay Z, which goes, ‘History Don’t Repeat Itself; It Rhymes’.

“Basically, the idea is that most of what we’re trying to do in this game has been done by someone else and all we have to do is learn from them and replicate.

“I think when you start to think about life in that way, you almost start to live life in cheat mode because you’re basically thinking, ‘okay, I’m going to find out how people have done their thing, and when I find that out, I can put my own spin on it’.

“So, I think that would be the advice I’d give myself because I’m doing it now!”
